First Chevy Volt owner in Louisville refuses to sell car back to GM.

[[posterous-content:pid___0]]First Chevy Volt owner in Louisville, Bob Sokoler says: "This is crazy! There's no way I would give back or sell my Chevy volt!" Bob has been driving the Volt since the end of April 2011.

He ordered the car in Paramus New Jersey, waited three months for delivery, flew up to New York to pick up the Volt and drove it back with his dad the same night. Bob says:"It's been a wonderful experience, I love this car!"

Bob is a Louisville Kentucky realtor and uses his car to show property and meet clients. His only regret is that Ford is a year behind with their electric car." Louisville is a Ford town" says Bob "I'd love to be driving a Ford product to support my town"

Since the recent reported battery fires from side impact crashes were conducted by safety teams, GM has offered to buy back any Volt.

Sokoler: "So the worst-case scenario is I get into a collision, I walk away, and days or weeks later the car catches on fire, as long as the occupants are okay that's all I'm concerned about".

"If you follow the news you know there's been a lot of attention paid to the Chevy volt, its pioneering technology, and it has a big target on! Every time a garage catches on fire with the Chevy volt in it, there's an enormous investigation to see if the Chevy volt or the charger for it cause the fire. In every case to date, the charger have not been the fault of the fire".

"I appreciate GM offering to buy it back as a good gesture, but I'm tearing up the letter with that offer. I would never give back, sell back or give away my Chevy volt. It's an enjoyable car to drive, I love passing up gas stations and I some my nose to the oil industry whenever I can. Alternative fuels are the wave of the future."

Some said the iPhone 4s was a flop! Not quite. Pre-Orders of the Apple 4s iphone began online at midnight October 7, 2011 Pacific time. By morning the apple website had slowed to a crawl. By mid afternoon part of the order site was down. A quick call to apple (when we were able to get through) assured us they were working on the problem. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 4, 2011, 1 PM Eastern time, location apples town Hall auditorium in Cupertino California. That's when Apple is scheduled to announce something. The invitation handed out to a select few journalists was cryptic but entertaining! It shows icons for the date, time, location and one message waiting.

That new message for many of us will potentially change our lives. Think I'm being too dramatic about this, no chance! Let me explain. Along with the much-anticipated announcement of a new iPhone (which many believe to be the iPhone 5) comes a new possible word for our dictionaries. It combines the word assistant with dictation. I'm not a betting man but if I was I suspect Apple will coin the phrase "i-sistant" or something like that. The new assistant will come on a new Apple platform for its iPhone. Rumors include a new dual core I 5 processor, one gig of memory, a possible larger screen and form factor. Additionally it's very possible that Apple will announce the integration of I-cloud which will be online storage for music, data and more.

But for some the most interesting portion of this new phone will be the assistant. Right now Google's phones use a form of dictation for notes or text messaging. But this new assistant software that Apple appears to have integrated into the new iPhone 5 could be a much advanced version of dictation software. It will allow anyone in a car to dictate an e-mail or text message, request directions to a location or ask the phone to dial a number. You potentially could ask the phone to read back e-mail or a text message. Apple has tried that before but because of the lack of computing power and software sophistication, voice recognition was a disaster. I know of no one who uses it.

But come Tuesday at 1 PM Eastern it's very possible Apple will present a game changer for all iPhone users. There are plenty of other rumors circulating the blogosphere, for example Sprint will most certainly get an iPhone, there may be a iPhone 4s (which will be a cheaper version of the iPhone to compete with less expensive smart phones already on the market), and the introduction of 4G speed for iPhones.

One thing is for sure the last iPhone update was a year and a half ago. The media is buzzing over the Tuesday announcement. You'll have to crawl under a rock with cotton in your ears not to have heard bits and pieces from the announcement by Tuesday night.

Yes, you read correctly, bacon and ice cream! It’s actually called The Blind Pig and it is delicious! I know, it sounds like a weird combination. But the salt in the bacon offsets the ice cream just enough to create a tasty treat for the pallet.

The desert was one of the creative culinary tasty treats at tonight’s third annual ” Exceptional Chefs Celebrating Exceptional Education.

The event was held at the community center at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville Kentucky to benefit The Carriage House, a school that’s been recognized for their success integrating children with autism and other developmental disabilities into preschool classrooms.

The turnout for the event was excellent the food was even better. The event was masterfully hosted by Brown-Forman’s chief entertainment officer Tim Laird, who is also author of the entertaining and educational book That’s Entertaining!

Tastings included offerings from Brown-Forman, Anchorage Café, The Comfy Cow, Mert’s Cakes, Selena’s Village Anchor, Vincenzo’s Restaurant, Wiltshire on Market and more.

If you have never been to one of these events you’re missing a real treat! The tastings give you a chance to sample local area restaurants, enjoy an entertaining evening and help raise money for a good cause.

According to a new report from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), nationally homes going under contract for November 2010 increased 3.5% in November. That confirms we’re seeing a gradual recovery that should continue into 2011. Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist says “If we add 2 million jobs as expected in 2011, and mortgage rates rise only moderately, we should see existing-home sales rise to a higher, sustainable volume.

Locally Louisville Home prices are a mixed bag of results. A new Federal Reserve report shows Louisville housing prices have actually notched up .46 percent in many areas. That’s great news when compared to other cities in states like Florida, California and Arizona where housing prices are still falling.

Looking back at December 2010, the final Louisville Home Sales numbers are still several days away but the trends (on the surface at least) are disappointing. With several days of closings still unrecorded (because of the extended holiday weekend) Home sales from December 2010 compared to December 2009 were down about 13 percent. That should improve as closing for late Thursday afternoon and Friday are recorded on Monday.

The number of homes sold in 2010 will be just about equal to 2009. Both years were influenced by first time buyer tax credits and move up tax credits. 2011 will be the first year in several without tax credits offered by the government. Additionally all Louisville builders will be sorry to see the state of Kentucky’s new home tax credit expire. According to a new report in the Courier Journal “About 2,400 Kentuckians have been approved to claim $5,000 off their state income tax bill for buying a newly constructed home in the last year and a half”.

As for 2011 we think it’s going to be a good year to buy and even sell Louisville Real Estate. Look at our video to see what we’re planning to do for our listings in 2011.

Great Pizza.. that about sums it up. Papalinos NY Pizzeria at 947-949 Baxter Avenue Louisville, KY 40204 (502) 749-8525 is a great place to order out. But it's a real challenge to eat in when the crowd starts to build up. My wife Norine and I tried to eat our pizza but I kept getting jammed in the back by a husband and wife and their 2 year old sitting at a really really small corner table for 2 (it really was meant for 1 person) that turned into a table for 3. Guess where the extra room came from. Still the Pizza was great in fact I'd put it on a par with Frascelli's New York Deli at 6247 Crestwood Station in Crestwood, KY 40014. (502) 243-9005 As a native New Yorker I'll tell you the pizza 'a are about tied but the size of the restaurant at Frascelli's in much larger. How about this... no rain for months and the week that Louisville's Elite Homes needs a dry week we get rain...lots of it! Sure rain normally stops the construction of most new homes, but not when you’re a team member of Louisville’s Elite Homes and working to build a new Louisville home in less than 7 days for ABC TV’s Extreme Makeover! Yesterday our Medley Sokoler Team at RE/MAX Properties East visited the set / build site of the newest Extreme Makeover staffed by Elite Homes. This new construction project is changeling because of the weather conditions and size of the lot. As we wrote about over the weekend, Elite Homes has established a great reputation here in Louisville and is well on the way to another successful build for a very worthy family. Luckily the house is under roof, but you have to worry about today's high winds and really heavy rain that's now approaching.

Louisville Home Sales slip again but there is some good news!

Louisville home sales took another plunge last month but there may be signs of some light at the end of the dark basement! First the bad news for Louisville home sellers. The number of homes going under contract in August of 2010 compared to August 2009 was down 9.8% (see the charts below). Additionally, the number of homes closing (actually changing ownership) during the same period was down d12.9%.

Right now the only people who are buying real estate are people being transferred, investors looking for steals and a handful of people who want to try their hand at home ownership. Once again a lack of confidence in the economy has potential home buyers staying right where they are, locked behind apartment doors.

This really is a buyer’s market, for anyone brave enough to venture into the home buying supermarket, there are blue light specials around every corner. Interest rates are at all time lows, sellers are accepting amazingly low prices for the sale of their homes and there are some real deals out there. For example our Medley Sokoler Team is working with out of town buyers this weekend who can’t believe the amount of home they can get for the money. Our buyers are coming from Maryland, (found us on the internet several months ago) and after looking at 10 homes today are confident they will be writing a contract on a home this weekend. We have a number of those types of buyers coming to town.

Even better news for Louisville home sellers is a new report in The Wall Street Journal Blog today! In a blog post entitled “10 Best and Worst Markets for Real Estate”, Louisville Kentucky Real Estate makes it into the top 10 cities to invest in Real Estate. The WSJ report is based on a soon to be released report by Local Market Monitor, a company that forecasts residential home prices. There updated report, which will be released next week will show positive trends for Louisville Real estate and Southern Indiana Real Estate.

A single report like this may bring in some investors from all parts of the world, but this is just one of a series of reports now hitting the media. If the trend continues, frightened buyers will start to show their heads from behind those closed apartment doors. That will help an ailing housing market and introduce a healthier more robust confidence in our wavering economy. Just what our buyers and sellers are hoping for!

I had some great wings at Roosters located at 7405 Preston Highway, Louisville Kentucky. The wings were enormous, hot sauce was out of this world. I found out Roosters is a chain restaurant but it has a real down home feel.
